The Isibani Education Fund was formed in December 2006 in response to a need, identified by its founders, to assist disadvantaged primary school learners who show academic promise in obtaining a quality secondary education as preparation for further study.

The Fund aims to assist those who show promise but do not have the resources to enroll at schools equipped to nurture their potential.

Isibani Education Fund is a registered Non-Profit Organization (NPO) (065-958-NPO) with the South African Department of Social Development.

The Isibani Vision
The vision of Isibani is to give hope and light (as the definition suggests) to primary school learners with disadvantaged backgrounds. The main objective of the Fund is to provide financial assistance to under-privileged primary school learners wishing to further their education at quality educational institutions.

The Fund provides this assistance in the following manner:

  • By identifying gifted learners from disadvantaged primary schools who would have gone to disadvantaged high schools
  • Then sending these children to high schools that can provide them with the necessary academic ability, leadership qualities and social skills to succeed in what is becoming an increasingly challenging and competitive South Africa.
    • Once learners have graduated from high school, Isibani Education Fund will assist them in obtaining scholarships, bursaries and student loans which will enable them to enroll at tertiary institutions.

The long term vision of Isibani Education Fund is to provide quality education to as many learners as possible, thereby empowering them to make a difference in both their own lives and those of their communities.
